Welcome to the FlashVlog QuickStart Guide

 
 

What is FlashVlog?

  • FlashVlog is a tool, allowing you to create video diaries online almost instantly.

What can I do with FlashVlog?

  • · Record: capture video from your web cam or another video device connected to your computer.

    · Edit: divide each FlashVlog into short chapters that you can re-order, delete or title, using the FlashVlog Editor .

    · Describe: add a title and description.

    · Design: customize the look from a choice of designs, using the skinChoice Editor .

    · Distribute: display each FlashVlog individually, or use an RSS feed to display a collection of related FlashVlogs. You can make your FlashVlog public or private.

    · Publish: click a button to automatically publish your recording to your FlashVlog web page, or use the code provided to place it on another web page. People can watch your recording from their browser using the FlashVlog Viewer .

    You can watch an example of a FlashVlog in the B823_2_2.0 study unit. Simply click on the picture to play the FlashVlog.
 

Finding the FlashVlog tool

  • You will find a link to FlashVlog in the Learning Tools menu on any pages within a study unit. It looks like this:

    When clicking on the FlashVlog link you will be taken to the Learning Tools FlashVlog page where you will see the FlashVlog menu. It looks like this:

Using FlashVlog

  • · You need to be registered and logged in. For more details on registering see our Get started page or simply register for free.

    · Click on the link 'Vlog Now' in the FlashVlog menu.

    · Log into the FlashVlog Editor with your OpenLearn username and password.

    · Click the 'New' button to request a new FlashVlog .

    · Click the 'Record' button to start recording your FlashVlog .

    · Click the 'Record' button again to stop recording your FlashVlog .

    · Choose the Publish tab on the top right of the FlashVlog Editor.

    · 'Lock' your FlashVlog (to make it available for viewing).

    · Go to the Links tab at the bottom right of the FlashVlog Editor to get the web address for your personal FlashVlog web page. Click on the ‘Go’ button to view your FlashVlog .

    If you have your own blog or website you can embed your FlashVlog here. In the Publish tab, click on the 'c' (copy) button at the bottom of the page. Then paste the code into your webpage editor.
